Committees

The annual Blind Dinner Date fundraiser is one of the club’s main fundraising activities, generating money for our vision-related charities and projects.

The format is an awards dinner, with a guest speaker and award recipients chosen from the vision care community. Meetings are generally held monthly during the latter part of the year, and then twice-monthly after the new year leading up to the event.

Honoree Categories:

Visionary of the Year Award: Recipients are individuals who have made distinguished contributions in thier medical/professional careers through significant volunteer activities that have enriched the lives of those living with vision loss.

Vision in Action Award: Recognizes non-medical individuals in the greater Grand Rapids area who have made significant contributions in their careers or through volunteer efforts to reduce avoidable blindness and/or provide quality of life support to those with vision loss.

Dr. Mark Sheldon Lifetime Achievement Award: Honorees have made vision improvement and vision loss elimination their passionate life’s work both inside and outside their profession.  Their dedication and unselfish contributions have made a very positive impact in reducing avoidable blindness, especially with those from economically challenged parts of our community.

Rising Star Award Award:   Honors a younger adult with sever vision loss who independence and confidence are growing, and who is showing evidence of a promising future and demonstration their ability to thrive in a sighted world.

• Location: Blandford Nature Center
• Time: 6:00-9:00pm
• Cost: Sponsorships available from $10,000, $5,000, $3,000, $1,000 or $500.
• Individual costs are $75/per person
