Join your fellow Lions as we distribute essential food boxes to eligible families in our community. \nTo sign up\, email Kelly Phelps no later than 9/12 at: Kphelps1123@gmail.com \n\n\n\n\n\n****PLEASE NOTE***: All volunteers must complete a volunteer registration before coming to the event. \n\n\n\n\nIf you are interested involunteering for this event please complete our registration online on our website at https://www.accesskent.com/Departments/CommunityAction/volunteer.htm. \n\n\n\n\nKent County Community Action collaborates with several partners throughout Kent County to distribute United State Department of Agriculture (USDA) food to eligible households on a quarterly basis. Our one-day distribution will include providing eligible households with a box of food from The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP). Volunteers will be needed to help collect client information\, pack boxes\, and distribute food to the public. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe will supply masks and gloves. Teenagers 14+ are welcome to volunteer if an adult guardian goes with them. Please do not volunteer if you have been exposed to/ have COVID-19 or are experiencing symptoms such as runny nose\, sore throat\, cough\, fever and/ or difficulty breathing.

DESCRIPTION:Affordable Housing in W. Michigan: Working collaboratively to ensure all families have a place to call home. \n  \nRyan VerWys started his career in Southern California\, as a community organizer and youth pastor in South Los Angeles and Long Beach. From 2003-2014\, he founded and directed a Christian non-profit dedicated to ending homelessness through affordable housing\, providing employment opportunities for formerly incarcerated individuals\, and asset based community development in economically marginalized neighborhoods.  In 2015 he became the CEO of ICCF Community Homes where he serves alongside a team of talented people who are passionate about creating equitable opportunity and thriving neighborhoods by providing supportive services and creating and preserving affordable housing throughout the greater Grand Rapids community.
