Anger is what would drive your mom’s boyfriend to dump garbage onto your bed as a wakeup call. Fortitude and courage are what it takes to drive you to succeed in spite of a hard upbringing. In Pocket Full of Dreams\, author David B. Burch describes his journey alongside siblings Jeff and Christine and his twin half-brothers Keith and Kelly as they ride an emotional roller coaster growing up in Michigan. Battling abuse thrown his way by his dad and later by the other men in his mom’s life\, he writes about how he mentally escapes such torture by throwing himself into sports and later the military. His life isn’t without some bright spots as he shares about his close relationships with friends and then about the loves in his life. As a reader\, your heart will go out to David and his siblings as they face cruelty to their pets\, themselves and their mom. Just when you think he’s seen enough heartbreak\, ultimately another obstacle comes his way.
