He retired from the Michigan State Police after 26 years and has 50+ years of investigative experience in the public and private sectors. He is the award-winning author of two books on Forensic Linguistics\, “Getting the Truth” (2014) and 2019 “Getting the Truth: I am D.B. Cooper.” He investigated/supervised investigations into homicides\, organized crime\, financial crimes\, narcotics and public corruption. He was the lead investigator into the disappearance of Jimmy R. Hoffa. \nJoe is Past President of the Michigan FBI National Academy Associates\, a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)\, holds a BS in Accounting from Wayne State University and an MPA from Eastern Michigan University\, where he received Phi Kappa Phi Honors. He now owns and operates KMI Investigations in Michigan\, specializing in financial fraud investigations and Forensic Linguistics.

DESCRIPTION:*Volunteers needed for in-person shopping on Saturday\, December 7\, 2024* \nMeijer generously donates a $30 gift card per child within a total limit of $1500 for the event. The Grand Rapids Lions Club donates $95 per child (up up $4750 for 50 children) to set a budget of $125 per gift card for children to spend on their family members. \n“Pass the Hat” donations through through collections at Lions luncheons assist in supplementing the cost of having additional children participate. For each $125 collected\, an additional child is able to attend. \nWHAT: The first shift is designated for the children with visual impairments and begins PROMPTLY at 7:15 a.m. The second group of children begin at 8:30 a.m. when the Base Camp Sabboath children arrive with their staff. \n****Due to the large number of children who are being referred\, we are looking for at least 35 volunteers or more\, if possible\, so the ratio would be no more than 2 children to every 1 volunteer. \nWHEN: Saturday\, Dec. 7\, 2024 at 7:15 a.m.- 10:30 a.m. \nWHERE: Meijer on 28th & 1-96 in Cascade \nMembers are welcome to make this a “family event” \nand include spouses\, children or acquaintances who \nare interested in volunteering. \nContact: Anne Baird | baird@surfree.com |
