DESCRIPTION:HOLIDAY SHOPPING \nSATURDAY DECEMBER 3 2022 \nHoliday Shopping -Volunteers needed for in person shopping on Saturday\, December 3 2022. \nRecently\, Lion\, Anne Baird\, provided details on this great annual event: \nMeijer generously donates a $15 gift card per child within a total limit of $1000 for the event. The Grand Rapids Lions Club donates $85 per child (up to $3000 for 40 children) to set a budget of $100 per gift card for children to spend on their family members. “Pass the Hat” donations through collections at Lions luncheons assist in supplementing the cost of having additional \nchildren participate. For each $100 collected\, an additional child is able to attend. \nWHAT: The first shift is designated for the children with visual impairments and begins PROMPTLY at 7:15 a.m. The second shift begins at 8:30 a.m. for the Base Camp children who arrive with their staff. Wrapping of gifts and amount of time for shopping varies with each individual child\, however\, past experience has indicated that the event and activities are usually over with between 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. \nWhen: Saturday\, Dec 3 2022 at 7:15am – 10:30 am. Volunteers will be needed to help collect client information\, pack boxes\, and distribute food to the public. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe will supply masks and gloves. DESCRIPTION:Thank you Lions of MD11 for helping with the Special Olympics Unified Cup in Detroit Michigan. Monday night was a night out on the Detroit Princess Riverboat (sponsored by LCIF) where they were able to let loose\, relax\, dance and flirt with the other teams!! LCIF has been a sponsor of Special Olympics for 25 years. The two teams holding the Lion banner were sponsored by their home country Lions Clubs!!!! MD124-Romania & the other team Naniba. Gary and I were so proud to be able to drive over and meet so many of the athletes. Good luck to all of them this week as they compete in Detroit. FYI – 4 yrs ago this was held in Brazil

DESCRIPTION:KIDsight screenings at Sam’s Club \nIN NEED OF VOLUNTEERS!  \nKIDsight screenings at Sam’s Club Health Fair this Saturday\, January 12th\nfrom 11am – 4pm at the following locations: \n·         Comstock Park\, Alpine Ave  – Volunteers needed\n·         Kentwood\, 28th Street – Wyoming Lions scheduled.\n·         Muskegon\, Sherman Blvd. – Volunteers needed \nIf anyone is available to help during this time\, especially at the Comstock Park and Muskegon locations\, please contact Lion Ken Adamy at 616-780-6810 for more details or to let him know what time would work to help fill the schedule! \nDuring the Sam’s Club Health Fair the children will be screened with our KIDsight vision screeners.  If there is a referral\, a Sam’s eye doctor will examine the child\, and if the child requires glasses\, the glasses can be provided from the designated funds granted by the Walmart Foundation.  This is an ideal concept for KIDsight as referred children will receive immediate care with no need for further follow-up.
